DEO Clinic 5k Run/Walk and 1 mile fun run
📍 Haig Mill Lake Park
Proceeds from this fundraising event benefit the DEO Clinic which for 20 years has provided free healthcare to uninsured adults from Whitfield and Murray Counties when they lack the resources to access healthcare. DEO Clinic is a 501c3 non-profit. The 5k timed race follows the paved trail around Haig Mill Lake. It is one lap, 3.1 miles long, and mostly flat. The trail is a mix of paved trail and gravel. It is a beautiful course and works well for all paces and abilities. The 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk takes place on paved areas and is not a timed event.

Friends of the Library Book Sale — All Ages

Open to all ages. Please come join us and see what the Friends of the Library Book Sale has to offer. We have thousands of used books as well as audiobooks and equipment available for sale for reduced prices. Proceeds of the sale go to benefit the Dalton-Whitfield County Public Library’s staff, programs, and collections. First Saturday of each month, excluding holidays, @ 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cherokee Basketry Workshop
📍 Creative Arts Guild
Woven baskets were essential for transporting and storing food and supplies, playing a vital role in the survival of the Indigenous peoples of Northwest Georgia, particularly the Cherokees. These baskets also served as a canvas for artistic expression, featuring intricate patterns woven into each piece. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to engage in a creative and historic craft tradition of Northwest Georgia by gaining hands-on experience in weaving their own round reed baskets. The class will be held in the morning and will last for three hours. All necessary equipment and materials will be provided by the instructor. This workshop is designed for adults aged eighteen and up; students under eighteen must be accompanied by an adult at all times. No prior knowledge or experience in basketry is required. The southwest Georgia craft tradition involves gaining hands-on experience weaving their own round reed baskets. This class is a morning session that will last three hours total. All necessary equipment and supplies will be provided by the instructor. This class is suitable for adults eighteen and up; students under eighteen must have an accompanying adult present at all times. No prior basketry knowledge or experience is necessary

Citizenship Course — Adults (Bilingual)

Open to adults. This course helps individuals prepare for the citizenship exam and interview. Presented by Maria Guijon.
