Woven baskets were essential for transporting and storing food and supplies, playing a vital role in the survival of the Indigenous peoples of Northwest Georgia, particularly the Cherokees. These baskets also served as a canvas for artistic expression, featuring intricate patterns woven into each piece. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to engage in a creative and historic craft tradition of Northwest Georgia by gaining hands-on experience in weaving their own round reed baskets. The class will be held in the morning and will last for three hours. All necessary equipment and materials will be provided by the instructor.
